I hope you are having a relaxing and enjoyable February Break. February has been a busy month, so I wanted to take a few minutes to share some updates with you. Cultural Mosaic Dinner Our first annual Cultural Mosaic Dinner was a great success! Thank you for sharing your different cultures with us. The food was absolutely delicious and the students worked so hard on their posters. I hope you had as much fun as I did! STEAM We are currently engaged in a cross-curricular non-fiction unit with a focus on ecosystems. Students have taken virtual field trips, learned how to take notes and have been reading about their specific ecosystems. Students will use their notes to create a non-fiction book that includes the text-features that we have been learning about. They will then engineer their ecosystems in the Maker Space. Black History Month Over the past few weeks, students have been studying famous activists, scientists, writers, politicians, and athletes. The students have been engaged in many valuable conversations about equality and kindness that will continue throughout the month as well as the rest of the school year. Homework Students receive a homework packet at the beginning of the week. This includes their spelling words, a reading log, and math practice. Please encourage your child to complete his or her homework on a nightly basis and to return it to school the following Monday. The family journal should also be returned to school each Monday with a signature. Lastly. the green homework folders should go back and forth from home and school each day. Students have been earning a Class Dojo point for returning their folders to school! Other Updates:
